I see you baby...shakin' that ass

It's offical! Geoffrey is F A T! Poor thing's on a diet and is being worked hard to make him sweat, plus all rugs bar one are banished to try and make him shed a few pounds.

Well done to everyone at the weekend - very impressive results!

More from Munstead

Apart from the fact that it was freezing (especially for those of us that had a four hour wait between the dressage and SJ - thanks BE!) a really good day out was had by all the Welly gang.

Congratulations go to Philly and Snip who won their section, Colleen and Cammy who came second in their section and a fantastic result for Ruth (who was far too modest to mention it in her blog below) who came second in her section at her first ever BE event with the wonder pony Blaze who was easily the smallest pony there. Well done all of you!

Hugo and I managed not to totally disgrace ourselves in the dressage but still not our strong point - SJ fast and furious with one down but a great XC (which is really the point to the whole thing as far as Hugo is concerned).

Here are a couple of photos of Hugo and Cammy at the last fence followed by that final gallop for the finishing line.

Full results can be seen at BDWP for those that are interested in the final scores.

Yesterday at Munstead

Well done to everyone who competed at Munstead yesterday!! It was a very cold, but enjoyable day. We managed to drag Mandy and Bianca out, they saved us, because i managed to leave our passports at Welly! I thought Blaze was really strong in our dressage test, but somehow we got a score of 31.5. Mum also got a good score of 33.0. Showjumping was aslo successful as we both went clear. Cross country however wasn't perfect for mum, she had 1 refusal, but amazingly, the scorer did not pick it up. I on the other hand went clear. Photos to come!!

Live from Munstead

Dressage completed, now four hours to wait for the next phase.
Hugo's dressage was hugoesque - good in parts. He managed to save the spook until after completing the test, upon which he took into his tiny mind to bolt out of the arena!
So its now time to walk the course, drink coffee, watch Philly yada yada yada...

Results just in..... Hugo somehow managed to collect 46 pts. Cammy has wonderful 33.5 in provisional 2nd after dressage

Hi all

Hi all, got myself logged in at last, still having to watch you all having fun from a non-riding point of view (getting very itchy feet to get back in the saddle again - well itchy foot to be precise!), and Mr Fly is being very naughty - 2 people on the floor in the last 2 weekends - will he make it 3 in a row? Todays Teach Techniques day might be very interesting, with a grandstand full of people and a cold crispy morning - sit tight Vicky!

Good luck to all competing this weekend - I'm very jealous, never mind, I've learnt my lesson that mid-air dismounts whilst jumping are not good idea!

Big Pony Party this weekend

It's off to Munstead on Saturday for four of the Welly Livery gang - Cammy, Hugo, Fox and Blaze, the first event of the season, let's see how that winter training pays off. The ponies all look pretty fit and ready, let's hope the riders can keep up. Anbody wanting to come along and cheer us all on can find the details are on the BE Website start times will be published by the end of the week.

Good luck everyone!

PS Also look out for Philly and Snip

BSJA at Wellington

Hugo and Scarlett entered the first BSJA event at Wellington. Hugo was highly suspicious of those new brightly coloured poles and wings especially the double and tried to slam on the anchors then jumped from a standstill demolishing the first part and refusing point blank at the second half. After a rebuild and an extraordinary jump resulting in a further knock down, finished the BN round without disgracing himself further.

Scarlett on the other hand had a double clear and went onto the discovery class, with a further clear round she got into the jump off with just one down. She's very pleased with herself and now considers herself a proper show-jumper (especially enjoying the super fast speed required in a jump off!) - big congratulations to Wendy and Scarlett, let's see more girls.

No pics again, sorry, so here's a picture of Wendy and Dizzy visualising the course instead.
Diane has finally managed to log on (albeit with a little help from Mr Buckley), with any news on Otto (that Gavin may forget!!), and Tommie Tom, who I am nominating an honory livery pony because he is very special!!!

No news at present, but heres to a successful weekend at Munstead for all who are going!

Monday 19 March 2007

Lucinda is now posting stuff all about Spanish ponies and the life and times of Lindo

Unaffiliated show jumping

A good livery yard turnout - Well Bamber was flying in the clear round and the early classes showing great promise. First up in class 2 came Jane and Hogan closely followed by Sophie and Fella who gave the winners a run for their money.
Fella returned in class 3 to come in an equal 5th with Hugo with four faults a piece and big grins all round.
The the commentary now from Ruth and Brian class 4 went to Cammy having found all the sweet spots on the course. Gavin and Hugo took a more conservative route to come home in 6th place. This 2'9" class also saw Bianca and Maggie and a late entry from Suzie B and Tilly.
Once again a great afternoon with plenty of smiles that even the sleet and hail could not wash away. Full results are on the Wellington website with more to come from the BSJA affilliated show jumping.

We need more photos!

Saddle Club SJ

Friday night Saddle Club SJ and the usual crowd were about. Brian and Boris were on good form with help from their trainer in the warm-up (moi) but a couple of refusals reduced their chances of placing.

Good night was had by all!

Circular circles

We've been having a lot of trouble with our circles of late. They tend to have corners, but not anymore! Oh yes, we've cracked it! Circles on the right rein with right bend.

Bring on the weekend!

Nutty's Birthday

Nutty is three today!!!

As you would have guessed from her extremely mature behaviour, she has made it to the ripe old age of three with only a few bumps and bruises on the way.

No birthday cake though because she is watching her figure in expectation of finding a boyfriend

Perfecting the art of pony faffing in less than an hour

Known to pony faff the weekend away, we have this evening successfully tacked up, ridden, untacked and thrown on rugs in less than one hour. Round of applause please!

Geoffrey looked a little ruffled by all this, however, which meant fuss and cuddles after the Care Course and another late dinner for me!

Hugo's Poncy Day Out

Monday Dressage at Wellington, Hugo's last chance to perfect his dressage before the more serious business of eventing begins. Really not bad for us - 65%, let's see if we can sustain that out on the grass at Munstead (ha ha).

Sunday 11 March 2007

Spring has arrived

As spring arrived today, spring cleaning was the order of the day. 13 deg and clear blue skys.
Unaffiliated dressage for Hugo and Tommy tomorrow so there was general grooming and polishing to be seen by George, Gavin and Diane all in the balmy sun.
Ruth will soon be calling the Inland Revenue to let them know that she his using The livery yard as her primary residence ... woken up by Schoie at 7 for her 8 o'clock lesson and sill cleaning her tack and pottering at dinner time!
Suzie B was still buzzing from Team Tilly's performance at Merrist wood yesterday.
Lucinda seemed to still be living off yesterdays grin factor and was seen in passing - grinning from ear to ear and hugging her pony mumbling about tomorrows show.
Otto meanwhile was perfecting his new found happy hacking skills. Still somewhat unsure of this walking about outside, today's much appreciated partner was Ruth and Geoffrey, fresh from their confidence inspiring early morning lesson.
All in all, a fine day in the sun.
